The stud's mainstay is the breeding and exhibition of several breeds of lops including Cashmere Lops, Miniature Cashmere Lops, Dwarf Lops,Miniature Lops and recently Lionhead Lops. There are also a few Lionheads and Netherland Dwarfs at the stud, together with some other experimental breeds/colours.

The Stud was established in 1984 and has specialised in temperament, type (especially bone, head and ears) and colour. The first Chocolate and Lilac lops were bred here in the eighties and the standard for bluepoints, Mini Lops and Mini Cashmere were all started here at Upton Lops.

The Stud is run by Jane Bramley, a Senior Judge with the British Rabbit Council and a District Adviser of several years standing. In 2000 Jane reached a milestone in her judging career by achieving election on every single Lop Breed specialist panel. In 2003, she also achieved election to the National Netherland Dwarf Panel, too.

A great deal of work has and is being achieved at Upton Lops, although the stud is rarely represented at many local shows these days. However a great many fanciers have begun their studs at Upton Lops, both with foundation stock and with help, support and advice. Some of these have gone on to become champion breeders and fanciers in their own right.

The Lionhead Lops from Upton Lops were presented at the Bradford Championship Show in January 2003 with resounding success. They were also entered in the non standard section of the show and one of them, a super typy black buck, earned a place on Victory Row! This lovely breed is continuing to improve in the stud and some new, top quality stock should be seen from this stud very soon.

Jane is also involved in representing the fancy at various events, including organising lectures and exhibitions and, only occasionally now, some rabbit shows. Jane has previously been involved in almost every aspect of the rabbit fancy, including devoting some time to a BRC sub committee.Jane is now developing her new found talent as an amateur artist and is specialising in - you guessed it - rabbits!.
